Now I can't say I've had any major epiphanies. And I definitely balance the stigma of Vincent's retort, "So you've decided to be a bum?" But the fact is I've been lucky/responsible enough to save up some "legal tender", the idea's been in the back of my mind for years, and I simply can't find a reason not to do this. I'll never be sitting around as an old man, "Gee golly Mike, that sure was a mistake traveling around the world." The additional adventure of finding a nice little house, yellow and black labs named Lenny and Carl, and eventual family can wait another 6 months or so. I'm walking the earth!
And by "walk" I of course mean planes, trains, boats, elephants, and maybe even a Zorb or two. I've been told a travel blog is mandatory. Never blogged before, so we shall see how this develops. My internet access may be limited and my interest may wane, but I'll try my best. Some thoughts to keep in mind:
- I'm aiming more for musings on certain travel topics than a point by point, "Dert da der, this is what I did today."
- I can already tell my once finely tuned grammatical skills have wandered off.
- Political rants and Delaney life philosophies shall be kept to a minimum.
- If you don't understand a reference, it's most likely Simpsons or Wire-related.
- Just deal with inside jokes. I guarantee they're too stupid to ever dwell on and indeed, you would ask for 10 seconds of your life back if I explained them to you.
- I may not always betray my exact location, so as to keep the CIA guessing.
- Not even I understand my sense of humor sometimes.
